ANZ bank customers can now top-up their bemobile phone credits using ANZ ATMs across Papua New Guinea.

The service was officially launched at ANZ Haus in Port Moresby yesterday.

ANZ’s PNG and Pacific north-west region chief executive officer Vishnu Mohan said the initiative reflected the bank’s commitment to provide accessible services for customers.

“Our focus is on making our customers’ lives easier … this collaboration between ANZ and bemobile to enable our customers to conveniently top-up their phone credits at our ATMs, is one of the ways we are making this a reality,” Mohan said.

bemobile chief executive officer Stuart Kelly said Papua New Guineans have adopted mobile phones at a phenomenal rate with usage that increased from eight to ninefold since 2009, as reported in the Pacific Business Review in August last year.

“With the vast growth in digital communications technology in the country, bemobile is continuously looking at introducing innovative ways in the market for customers to have access to convenient options to top-up for mobile phone credits,” Kelly said.

“Today’s launch was a highlight for bemobile and one of many more enhanced and efficient services planned for our customers and I thank ANZ for helping us to make this service possible,” he added.

All ANZ ATM locations will display bemobile phone top up signage with easy prompts to guide customers in using the service.

This new service is available at all branches in Port Moresby, Lae and Madang.

The remaining sites would be enhanced next month.
