THERE has been considerable media coverage surrounding PNG rugby league star, the stylish former Rabaul Gurias centre Menzie Yere, who is now playing with English club, Sheffield Eagles.

He has been recognised for his tremendous performances while winning individual major awards along the way.

He recently rewrote the Eagles’ try-scoring record by becoming their top try scorer.

His great achievement is making a mark for PNG.

He is a wonderful rugby league ambassador from PNG and a popular role model in England.

His current coach, Mark Aston, who will be coaching Ireland for the coming rugby league World Cup tournament has spoken highly of Yere’s qualities and how he will be a big impact player for the Kumuls.

As a proud Papua New Guinean and a great follower of the rugby league, I wish him and other Kumuls all the best under the management and leadership of Adrian Lam and Mal Meninga.

Let us all put our bodies on the line for the good name of our country.

Yumi, yumi, go Kumuls.
