Normal, Sports

THE best young Aussie rules players in Lae have been tested, checked and are ready to shine at the Coca-Cola AFL PNG talent camp in Goroka from today to Sunday.
Ranging between ages  12 and 18 years old, the 35 players from schools in Lae, were screened twice from the regional and provincial talent camps and championships.
The camp will also be the gateway for the lucky ones to further their development in Australia.
Nine players made the U13 pack, U15 have 11 while U17 have  14 players, all of whom went through vital signs check, where their weights, heights, blood pressure and other necessary checks were carried out.
As part of AFL-PNG’s contribution in the fight against HIV/AIDS, their basic knowledge on HIV/AIDS were  tested.
With different origins, the collection of Lae talents will ride on the success of their former colleagues David Meli and Peter Labi, who are currently playing Down Under as a result of the success of the code’s junior development programme in Morobe province and Mamose region.
