A TOTAL of 46 teams are confirmed to take part in the Besta FA Cup Momase region tournament in Lae which starts today
The five-day tournament at the Lae Football Association (LFA) Park and Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium ends on Sunday.
Momase Besta Cup match commissioner Alex Toki said the tournament had attracted 46 teams from East Sepik, Madang, Lae Football Association, Lahi Soccer Association, Wau Football Association and their associate members.
He said the winner of the tournament would advance to meet the other regional winners in Lae in October. The Momase Besta FA Cup will see 35 men’s and 11 women’s teams taking part.
Toki said they were looking forward to some great soccer action over the five days.
“We anticipate to see some great football talent on display and the teams to play well as they are the best in the region,” Toki said.
“I’m also sure this tournament will provide an opportunity for players to shine and to develop football as a career.
“I urge the soccer community, family and friends in Lae to come to LFA Park and Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium to support their teams.”
