EDUCATION institutions in East New Britain were the only active participants of the two-day national haus krai in East New Britain.

ENB Council of Women president Alice Pawas aid there should be better coordination among women’s group in the country on such programmes.

She thanked the students for their active role in the awareness campaign to stamp out violence against women.

Pawas told students and staff of the Kokopo Business College on Wednesday that the cause of the increasing number of  violence incidents against women should be identified.

She said there must be a reason behind the negative attitude against women in the country.

The Malabanga Secondary School organised its awareness through the social science department.

Students pinned black ribbons on their uniforms while the teachers donned black clothes and red ribbons.

The highlight of the haus krai at the school was a debate and an open forum, concluding with a fellowship.

Similar events were organised in other schools in the province.
