THE new Malaset health post, upgraded from an aid post to better serve the remote inland Baining local level government community, will provide more health facilities.

They include a labour ward, delivery room, outpatient and in-patient sections, antenatal and emergency rooms and an incinerator.

It was opened last Friday by ENB Governor Ereman ToBaining Jr and Gazelle MP Malakai Tabar.

They jointly funded the centre and promised to provide an ambulance as well.

They also gave K10,000 for medical supplies.

Regional MP Leo Dion has promised his support for the post.

Provincial administrator Wilson Matava said the cry of the people had been heard. He thanked sister-in-charge Sr Grace Michael for her work.

Tabar said the province needed to improve its health facilities and roads to reduce health problems in the rural  areas.

ToBaining said health was one of the five key areas the government was addressing and prioritising.

He told the people to work  with the MPs, churches and landowners to see that development reached the outskirts of the province.

He said the next project would be a bridge connecting East and West New Britain.
