SEVERAL law and order and health facilities in Madang Open electorate received early Christmas presents of several new vehicles from local MP Buka Malai.
The funds came from Mr Malai’s district improvement funds.
He presented a landcruiser to police, a bus to the prosecution, a truck to the Correctional Service and an ambulance to Yagaum rural hospital.
Earlier, another vehicle was presented to Mawan rural police and the Catholic church-run Utu health centre in his Trangogol local level government area.
Mr Malai said law and order and health facilities must be maintained and funded because they provided critical services to the isolated majority in the bush.
He said next year he would focus on connecting as many isolated communities by road so that they could access essential services currently enjoyed by their urban cousins.
He challenged the public servants to make a concerted effort in the New Year to deliver basic services to his people.
