A CHRISTIAN internet-based TV and radio broadcasting service was launched in Port Moresby on Saturday by the Evangelical Bible Mission.
President of the Evangelical Bible Mission Gerald Bustin, who was in the country to mark the 70th anniversary of the arrival of his missionary father GT Bustin in 1948, launched the service at the Port Moresby National High School with the hope that through the internet the Christian message would be available throughout the country.
Bustin, accompanied by his wife Roana, brought with him the husband-and-wife team of Franklin and Arletia Mayfield, who are experts in Christian internet broadcasting and have set up platforms which can be accessed via Facebook.
The couple are founders of True God TV and have been providing their services to churches and ministries all across America for the past 10 years.
True God TV is a global Christian internet television service available for ministries and churches.
It also broadcasts music and video which can be accessed both on computers and smartphones.
The Mayfields said that from their experience they have seen that the internet is the new medium for churches throughout the bworld.
“True God TV does live broadcasts of Christian content – movies, music, teaching on the internet – much like Netflix,” Franklin said.
In the United States they produce and provide content for 31 TV channels.
For Poroman TV and radio services, the Evangelical Bible Mission plans to set up studios in Port Moresby and Goroka to produce programmes and video material for broadcast.
As the services are developed in the future, other churches or ministries can also use the Poroman TV/radio network to broadcast their own content but that will be screened by a board of directors yet to be appointed.
