Bid camp to see 50 best juniors
The National, Thursday 29th March 2012
FIFTY of the best junior rugby league players from schools around the nation meet in Port Moresby today for the one week PNGNRL Bid development camp at the Port Moresby International School.
The camp will run until Monday.
Kumul coach Adrian Lam and strength and conditioning coach and former Sydney City roosters forward Jason Tassell will run the camp for players aged between 15 and 18 selected from the All Schools programme last year.
The selection process included extensive training, skills development and competing at district, zone and national levels.
The camp is to prepare the boys for their first international fixtures in June and July.
The bid will take the elite squads on tour to Australia to play in a series of games.
Bid chief executive officer Brad Tassell will officially open the camp.
Tassell said the elite development camp was another example of how the bid office and its sponsors were working to achieve the dream of the national government, to have a team in the National Rugby League in the future.
