Bill for MP houses proposed

PARLIAMENT services will be considering a bill to build houses for MPs, parliament was told yesterday.
Speaker Theo Zurenuoc said parliament was seriously considering the issue of housing for members of parliament.
He said that in response to question without notice by the member for Kabwum, Bob Dadae.
Dadae asked if the parliament could look at the welfare of the members as it was a problem for them to find a place to stay in the nation’s capital during parliament sessions.
Dadae said during a recent visit to the Queensland parliament he found that housing was provided for members as many came from distant communities.
He said a similar arrangement should be done here.
Dadae, who is a third term member, said since entering parliament in 2002, he still found it difficult to look for accommodation in the city.
He urged the government and the members to support him when he brought the matter up in parliament in the coming year.
