MOROBE has a new acting provincial administrator.
He is Gioving Bilong who was appointed by the National Executive Council to replace Kemasang Tomala.
Bilong, who was one of two deputy administrators, assumes the role as acting chief of the province’s public service until a permanent appointment is made in the next three months.
A statement from Morobe Governor Kelly Naru’s office yesterday confirmed the NEC appointment and urged public servants to “lift and improve their performance in service delivery”.
Naru reiterated his call last week for public servants to work for the good of the people and not be influenced by politics.
He also warned government officers not to serve their own interests or those of their wantoks and cronies.
The governor urged Bilong to tackle the problem of non-performance by public servants in the province.
He called on the administration staff and the private sector in the province to cooperate and support the new acting administrator.
Naru also thanked Tomala for the “distinguished service” he had provided to the province during his term.
