Biomass, a con project

Letters

THIS relates to yesterday’s article “Farmer wants answers” in The National.
The PNG Biomass project in Markham Valley is a con project in the name of producing power.
Throughout the world, carbon emissions are banned and biomass here produces carbon and the Government will be reluctant to sign power purchase agreement.
Landowners should be aware that this project will only give 30 megawatts and needs 30,000ha of land to sustain it.
Markham Valley is a prime agriculture land and should not be covered with these gum trees.
Our people should focus and put more emphasis on Ramu 2 hydro project, which will give them more than 180 megawatts of power.
