Bird commended

Letters

I write to praise East Sepik Governor Allen Bird for his bold stand and courage in this term of parliament.
Despite his political affiliation, being a first timer and one of the main critics in the Opposition, he has proven himself to be a capable leader who can talk and get what rightfully belongs to his people.
Regarding the SIP funds, other MPs and governors are complaining about not receiving full payments of DSIP and PSIP.
However, the East Sepik governor confirmed that he had received all his earmarked grants.
Obviously in PNG, the practice of whom you know system or nepotism is common. Both in private and public sectors you will see this happening.
This practice was copied into PNG politics, swiftly penetrating through the fabric of our young democracy and as a result, affecting free and fair flow of government goods and services.
Many MPs are struggling to deliver much-needed goods and services to their people.
I take my hat off and salute my governor for not sitting and doing nothing in the Opposition bench. Keep it up.
