EAST Sepik Governor Allan Bird said that the East Sepik Provincial Administration has begun cleaning up suspicious corrupt officers who have been mismanaging public funds over the years.
“We have already started. We have a lot of support from the Provincial Police Commander and the Fraud Squad is also supporting us.”
Bird said that they were cleaning up their books to demonstrate to the business and donor community that they were ready to do business.
He said this in Port Moresby while welcoming the newly appointed East Sepik provincial administrator Dr Clement Malau .
Bird described Dr Malau as “man of good integrity and good moral standing”.
“We were looking for the best person for the job,” Bird said.
“And we are lucky that Dr Malau applied.
“With his experience and qualification, his attributes, his personal commitment to his good governance, we have seen changes in the past six months.”
“He … was a very easy choice.
“He could have worked elsewhere in the world if he wanted to.
“But he chose to come home and we are very privileged to have him.
“We probably have the best administrator in the country right now.”
Malau signed his employment contract last Thursday at the Government House in Port Moresby along with four other senior public office holders.
