Bishop: Solution to all problems found in God

SOLUTIONS to the problems the people of Papua New Guinea are facing can only be found in God, Bishop of Lae Catholic Diocese Rozario Menezes says.
During his 2019 Easter message on Sunday, he said answers could be found in God, “when we learn to put God first in our personal life, in our family, at work, at school and in whatever we do. Then we have won our battle against evil,” Menezes said.
“In recent months in the media, people were constantly bombarded with the news of child abuse, sexual violence, rape, incest, family violence, children being abandoned by their parents and so forth.
“We proudly call ourselves a Christian nation, but our attitude shows unchristian rudiments.
“We should not remain silent; for such a silence will only inflict further violence of neglect and carelessness on those who suffer.
“The country is in a situation where an underage girl has to sell herself to make enough money to survive, young boys organise hold ups in city streets and inflict pain on innocent commuters to make their living, a father has to steal the child from his wife and sell it on the streets to have money for his entertainment, people have to tell a million lies and cook up stories to cheat the pastors, priests and bishops instead of working hard and making their living.
“The litany of these unscrupulous behaviour goes on.
“There is no doubt, concerned departments, churches and individuals are doing their best to make the society a better place to live to instil Christian values.
“But we cannot do it by ourselves; we need help, who can help us? “The Lord God is my help” (Is 50:7).”
