A GROUP of students has been told to view positively “bad” things they face in life.
Archbishop of the Mt Hagen dioceses Bishop Douglas Young told grade 10 and 12 students of the Notre Dame Girls Secondary School that they must have the willpower and determination to overcome obstacles.
“Your theme says: Be a good ambassador, aim for gold with God,” he said.
“When you come across a problem or obstacle, deal with it.
“It gives you the advantage to move forward in life.”
Young urged the students not to give up on their hopes and dreams.
He encouraged women to take up science courses and become doctors.
He told them to trust in the Lord and study hard.
Young also thanked the Sisters of Notre Dame for providing education to girls in the past 50 years.
Principal John Kumie said the school focused more on providing quality Christian education to the girls. “We emphasis more on self-discipline among the students so that when they finish, they will become somebody where other people can look up on them for their leadership in the society and the community,” he said. The school will be closed on Dec 13.
About K50,000 left in the school’s account would be used to cater for grade nine and 11 students over two weeks.
