Blessing of the pen for professionals
The National, Thursday February 4th, 2016
THE ceremony for the second blessing of the pen for working professionals in the communication industry, including news reporters and students, was held at the Holy Family Anglican Church last Sunday.
Organiser of the event and journalist Alfred Kaniniba said this was the second time the ceremony was held and it was aimed to help empower journalists in their writing.
Four journalists from PNGLoop, Post Courier and The National also attended the event.
Parish priest Fr John Dubabagi said that the role of the media was to ensure that information reached every person in the country.
Dubabagi said that journalists had sacrificed a lot for the country and encouraged them to continue in their professions with faith, hope and love. He advised everyone who had their pen blessed to continue to go to church and put God first in their daily lives.
Students also lined up before the altar to have their pencils blessed before they went back to the classrooms.
