Blocked road affecting 80,000

Letters

ABOUT 80,000 self-reliant and hardworking subsistence people of Nuku and Lumi have been struggling to reach Maprik and Wewak for services and markets for their cocoa and vanilla.
The portion of the Sepik Highway at Beneng has been blocked with mud, earth and vegetation because of a landslide.
The impact of the landslide on the road started in January and it is getting worse.
The authorities have done nothing about it.
Cars are not able to drive through the blocked section. People change cars to reach towns and that is expensive.
This situation is severely affecting the lives of people.
When will the authorities do something?
