Blow as Chimbu loses its top cop

Letters, Normal

THE appointment of highlands’ top cop Supt Joseph Tondop as NCD metropolitan commander is a real blow to Chimbu.
He deserves the promotion and we saw it coming.
We are proud of his achievement and congratulate him.
But now we need to ask critical questions whether this move will progress the work done and programmes in place or digress it.
The 2012 election is around the corner, the Highlands Highway is receiving billions of kina for rehabilitation thanks to the LNG project.
If Tondop has been a hindrance to progress in the area, the public deserve to know.
If not, he should be promoted to take charge of the highlands region, give him better terms and conditions as his promotion package and better equipped manpower so that he can progress his work we have seen in Chimbu.
NCD politics and bureaucracy may cause his downfall.
