Board opens classroom buildings

EAST New Britain’s Kokopo development authority board opened two new classroom buildings for Gunanba and Baliora primary schools last week.
Both schools are in the Kokopo-Vunamami urban local level government.
Kokopo MP Emil Tammur said at the official opening ceremony that the two projects cost about K1 million and the funds came from the Kokopo services improvement programmes.
Tammur, who is also and National Planning and Monitoring vice-minister, said Kokopo would look into building more permanent classroom buildings for all schools within the district as he believed education was the way forward for his district.
“Students will learn better if the environment, especially classrooms, is conducive for them,” he said.
“If students want to become somebody in the future, they should study hard.
“Listening and obeying your teachers are very important, but before you come to school, you should always respect and obey your parents at home too in order to prosper in life.”
