THE Rabaul Gurias are expecting skipper Watson Boas and rake Wartovo Puara Jr to hit the ground running in their Digicel Cup opener against the Mt Hagen Eagles in Port Moresby tomorrow.
SP Hunters’ Terry Wapi, Epel Kapinias, Stanley Olo and Silas Gahuna should also boost their attack in their 1pm clash at Sir John Guise Stadium.
Gurias team manager Mapua Tamtu told The National this week that the Agmark-sponsored side began preparations in Jan. He said they had recruited well in the offseason, with former Central Dabaris playmaker Allan Simbiri another notable inclusion.
Tamtu said the Gurias would dedicate their opener to club founder the late John Nightingale who passed away in Australia earlier this year after battling cancer.
“We will be expecting a tough battle against the Eagles has they have also recruited well in the offseason,” he said.
