ASE Boas could not have done more for a Kumul jersey.

Yesterday the Gurias halfback  pulled in a performance fitting of a represenataive jersey when he orchestrated a 64-8 hiding of the Mt Hagen Eagles in Kokopo.

Mostly over-looked by selectors with his more illustrious halves partner Dion Aiye claiming the limelight the captain put his name in the mix with a commanding performance.

If he was not organising the sets he was scoring tries (3), kicking 40-20s and goals (eight from 12) in a master class at Kalabond oval.

In a standout performance by the Gurias backline, centre Nelson Daplen scored four tries, two in each half, winger Emmanuel Toide touched down with three tries as did Ase while winger Boas Ruru bagged a double ina 12-try romp.

The Eagles managed two unconverted tries to Elijah Peter and Junior Rau in the first half.

“We’ve got injuries but the team is starting to pick up their performances by sticking to the game plan,” a pleased Marum said.

Eagles coach Joe Tep admitted his boys were completely out-played but did not expect the score to blow out.

Tep said there was a lot of work on in training as his side played without any structure and fell apart as the game wore on.

Boas put his performance done to training and preparation saying he had continually practiced skills such as kicking 40-20s and goal kicking at training.

“Its all about practice and perfection during training,” Boas said.

Gurias 64 (B. Ruru 2, Nelson Daplen 4, Emmanuel Toide 3, A. Boas 3 tries; Boas 8 con) Eagles 8 (E.Peter, Junior Rau tries).
