RELATIVES of the dead from the fatal road accident at Mutzing, Morobe province, began collecting the bodies of their dead over the weekend.
The accident, one of the worst in PNG,  claimed 43 lives last week
Angau Memorial Hospital morgue attendants said as soon as post-mortem examinations began last Friday, relatives were ready to take the bodies home for burial.
They said 30 bodies were released last Friday after post-mortems examinations were completed.
Other bodies could not be released yesterday because there was no coroner available to conduct a coronial inquest for the release.
It is understood that the doctor who had done the post-mortems was now attending to other matters.
The hospital was also relieved of some of its worries with the arrival of two container freezers last Friday evening.
Hospital management could not be reached for comment.
