MORE than 10,000 children in the remote Gama local level government of Usino Bundi district in Madang will have libraries as an additional resource.
LLG president Elijah Kas received cartons of books yesterday from Books 4 Kids PNG.
Kas said the donation would benefit 10,000 to 15,000 children in the area.
The Gama LLG can only be reached by small aircraft. It takes days to walk there.
“We have eight primary schools and it is very difficult when it comes to essential school materials,” Kas said.
“These books would help our children learn to speak good English and increase their knowledge.”
The books were shipped from Australia through Kalibobo Clothing.
The books will be transported to the school by plane.
Kas said books transported by boat would be picked up by students and parents of schools near the Ramu River.
“We thank the people in Australia who have been donating library books through Books 4 Kids PNG to help the children in the remote parts of PNG,” Kas said.
Bundi LLG president Victor Managi said books for their schools were also on their way.
