Books given to primary school

Education

OUR Lady of Lourdes Primary School in Maprik, East Sepik, received 10,000 cartons of children’s reading books from Books4PNGKids, a Brisbane-based non-government organisation (NGO) in Australia recently.
The donation was made possible through the leadership of Jonah Linus, a young advocator of education in Maprik.
Linus, in an interview, said Books4PNGKids had been supplying school books to many schools in Papua New Guinea and Our Lady of Lourdes was one of the schools who benefitted from the donations.
“The donations from the Australian NGO was through a strong partnerships I had with them,” he said.
“I am impressed that the school has finally received these boxes of reading books.
“These reading books will benefit thousands of students in years to come and it will help address illiteracy in the society going forward.”
Linus thanked Maprik Wora LLG manager Yamil Tamawi for the logistic support to transport the books from Wewak to Maprik via PMV.
“There are some more schools to be donated to as we go by,” he said.
“This donations is complementing the national goals and directives and the vision 2050, for healthy, wealthy and an educated society.”
