Boram’s CEO farewelled

WEWAK’S Boram Ge­neral Hospital showed appreciation to its outgoing chief executive officer Dr Louis Samiak in a small ceremony yesterday where he officially handed the role to his replacement, Dr Lawrence Warangi, who was appointed by the National Executive Council recently.
Samiak said he had learnt a lot during his term as CEO and had achieved most of what he set out to achieve and would leave the office with no regrets.
He established additional clinical services, fostered transparency and accountability at all levels, established networks with other stakeholders and designated Boram Hospital to be a research hospital in the country.
He said however, there were some unfinished business such as the renovation and maintenance of the hospital, feasibility study of new hospital and streamlining of health services.
Samiak said a sufficient amount of funds worth more than K2 million was still left in the hospital’s operating and trust accounts.
East Sepik Governor Peter Wararu commended Samiak for his strong discipline, transparency and accountability during his three-year contract despite criticisms.
Wararu called on the new CEO to address the staff accommodation issue.
