Border Rats gnaw away in Gerehu touch comp

BORDER Rats general Baro Kopi, steered his side “Andrew Johns” way on Saturday afternoon’s main game of the Gerehu touch competition, for a fine 8-0 victory over Poolside 2 from Stage Six.
Kopi set interchange Peter Dopi went through for the only try of the match in the first half, converted the try, and then sailed a penalty goal over the “black dot” late in the second half for the fulltime score.
In a thrilling contest in the playmaking department, Kopi and Poolside’s Nathan Kuini Gomu directed their sides around the park in all facets of play, with Kopi slightly edging his opposite at the end.
The other main encounter on Sunday saw competition leaders Freeway Motors Cowboys maintain their lead through a gutsy 4-0 win over second placed Mix Mates.
Johny Song, Alex Foe and Neville Loi kept the ball rolling before Donald Kairi ran over for the winner and only try of the match.
