TUBERCULOSIS (TB) terms must be used correctly in the workplace so as to not shame and discriminate the victim, chief executive officer and project manager for business for health: tuberculosis (B4H) Dr Ann Clark says.
“CEO of companies must use the correct term to address TB/HIV employees in the workplace to minimise stigma and discrimination,” she said.
“TB and HIV/AIDS are sensitive diseases that people are afraid to speak about to others.”
Clark said during the FM100 talkback show that all workplaces must promote health to prevent such issues.
“CEO of the company must understand the issue and make decision accordingly instead of making judgments to stigmatise and discriminate the affected employee,” she said.
