KAIRUKU Amateur Boxing Association (KABA) has expressed grave concern over the influx of outsiders conducting boxing tournaments in the Kairuku-Bereina area.
Association president Charles Fauma said yesterday that certain individuals were going ahead to conduct boxing activities in the Kairuku-Bereina area without consulting him and his executives.
Fauna added that some youngsters were also confused on which boxing group to join.
As the association president, Fauna is appealing to those individuals to refrain from conducting boxing trials, as he will not recognise and recommend boxers selected from these boxing tournaments.
He raised the concern after learning that Aipeana village in Mekeo would be hosting the Paru Aihi Cup on May 7.
The event will be held after the KABA President’s Cup starting next Friday to Sunday at Eboa village in Mekeo area.
He said the President’s Cup, initially scheduled for last month, had to be deferred after a conflict between Kerema and Eboa people following a shooting incident involving a PMV driver.
