Boxing champ Korake faces Decklam test

OCEANIA Fight Promotions will host a TV Wan Action Fight Night clash between national light heavyweight John Korake and John Decklam at the Sir John Guise Indoor Complex in Port Moresby tonight.
The event will kick off at 3pm with six local semi-professional bouts in the lead-up to the main event, which is a professional fight.
All seven bouts will have eight three-minute rounds.
Korake will face a tough challenge as Decklam has his sights on toppling the national champion.
During the weigh-in at Moresby South Fitness Centre yesterday, Decklam told The National that it was an important fight for him.
“Although it’s not a title fight, the bout is still important for me,” Decklam said.
“I think we will have another rematch after this fight.
“But I need to win this fight because it will the pave way for me to have more bouts on the international stage.
“I always enjoy fighting against boxers like Korake.
“I haven’t fought in many international bouts like Korake, but I like to challenge local fighters when they go out to the international arena and come back.
“If I can beat him then it will be good for my boxing career.”
Meanwhile, Korake has all the experience and there is no way he will want to let any local fighter stop his dominance.
With Korake’s height, he will have an advantage over Decklam.
However, Decklam’s unorthodox style of boxing will not go unnoticed as he has a healthy record leading up to the fight.
