TWO boys aged 11 and 13 facing rape charges have been told to keep away from the area where the offence was allegedly committed.
National Court judge Justice Panuel Mogish ordered the boys to stay away from the 9-Mile settlement, outside Port Moresby.
“The police have charged you with a very serious crime,” he said.
“The bail conditions remain as it is so you must not associate with your friends, do not go to 9-Mile and your curfew must be observed.”
He asked a community leader at the Makana settlement where the two boys lived to keep an eye on them.
Mogish asked Chris Nuabo to make sure that the boys did not venture into the 9-Mile settlement.
Mogish advised Nuabo to see the public solicitor and file an affidavit to show that he was given the authority by the court to oversee to the boys’ movements.
“The National Court wants the community to be involved in law and order issues,” he said.
“The court needs assistance from the community concerning trouble in the communities because police officers find it hard to venture into the communities to apprehend trouble-makers.”
During their second appearance in court last Monday, Mogish told them to file affidavits to prove to court that the increased K200 payment of their bail had been made.
The boys yesterday showed Mogish their filed affidavits and copies of their bail receipts as proof of their bail payments.
