HEKARI United coach Jerry Allan says the club’s two Brazilians players would train with the team but not take the field until they were cleared with their international transfer certificates (ICT).
Players Erick Lopes, 23, and Vinicius Kryzozun, 24, arrived on Tuesday and went straight to training with the Hekari squad.
Allan said there were rules and procedures required by Fifa in order for the transfer to be deemed compliant with the sport’s world governing body’s policy.
“We are waiting for the process to be completed and when it is done, hopefully they can take the field this weekend,” Allan said.“Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) has to consult their former clubs in Brazil to get their (ICT) and authorise them to play for Hekari.
“Every player that goes around the world from one club another must have their ICT released before they can be allowed into a country and play. It’s good that they’ve arrived but before I fit them into the team, I have to conduct a pre-trial match among the players and see where they can fit in.
“Aligning a team is not an easy task, but I have to make sure that they interact with local players and get to know each other well.
“I want to use them as quickly as possible as the Oceania Champions League is approaching that will take place in less than three weeks.
“To get them used to the climate, they must be fitted into the team as quickly as possible.”
