SOUTH Pacific (SP) Brewery yesterday launched its ‘Designated Driver’ campaign at the Gateway Hotel, in Port Moresby, as part of its community awareness on alcohol abuse.
Brewery general manager Stan Joyce said the launching added to the list of other campaigns such as underage drinking, responsible drinking and serving, drink driving, drinking in public places and violence against women, most of which were television and radio commercials.
He said the brewery valued its corporate social responsibility and believed in creating a good and sustainable environment for the people.
“As a responsible company, SP Brewery believes in driving the message of the responsibly consumption of alcohol by assisting our customers and stakeholders whom we can work in partnership,” Joyce said.
“This simple concept encourages a sober volunteer to drive others who drink after a night out so in the next outing someone else will do so.”
Joyce said these materials would be used at all SP Brewery ‘on premise outlets’ to promote the designated driver message.
He acknowledged the continued support of government bodies such as the Law and Justice Sector, Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary,
business partners and customers.
He said alcohol abuse was a global problem that cooperation and full participation could curb.
