THE National Apprenticeship and Trade Testing Board is empowering  young people graduating with technical skills to reduce the skills gap in Papua New Guinea.
South Pacific Brewery human resource manager Jerry Atahu made this comment last Friday at Port Moresby while presenting a cheque for K10,000 to sponsor, the Annual National Apprenticeship and Trade Testing Board Awards.
He said the sponsorship was to re-emphasise its support of upskilling local tradesmen and women as they were an important asset to the country.
“As a leading brewer in the South Pacific since our establishment 60 years ago, SP Brewery has always been on the forefront in recruiting Papua New Guineans,” he said.
“We have 26 apprentices whom we are grooming so that they can be better skilled in their respective professions as these young men and women will be leading the organisation in the next 60 years.”
