South Pacific Brewery presented the funds as part of its community support obligation.
Highlands regional sales manager Aaron Japu presented a mock cheque to members of the show’s committee at the Goroka SP depot on Wednesday.
Japu said SP Brewery had a long history of supporting cultural events such as the Goroka show which it had been backing for more than 15 years.
“We are proud to be part of this year’s Goroka show which is the biggest cultural event in the Highlands,” he said.
“It attracts hundreds of tourists and visitors who come to see our diverse cultures being show cased.”
Japu noted that the theme of this year’s show “Save our planet, save our future” was relevant because the brewer believed in preserving and promoting local cultures,” he said.
Goroka show treasurer Akemi Mikata thanked SP Brewery for its continued support.
She said her committee would do its best to stage a successful show this year in spite of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

The show would go ahead this year compliant with health and safety protocols, including compulsory waering of face masks.
