THE construction of a new Brian Bell Homecentre in Mt Hagen has begun while the group’s eight-storey residential complex in Port Moresby is set to open in May.
Brian Bell group chief executive Cameron Mackellar told The National that over the past three years, Brian Bell has stepped up its series of significant capital investment exceeding K200 million.
“We’ll no doubt announce some more exciting news on other growth plans in the months to come,” he said.
“The Hagen project only kicked off earlier this year.
“It encompasses the construction of two separate buildings.
“The first will be a large warehouse facility directly behind the current Homecentre location.
“This will become the temporary Homecentre once completed, in order for us to then level the Homecentre site and rebuild a purpose built facility, increasing the size and offering for all of our customers.
“The total project will take two years to complete with the first phase completing later this year and final Homecentre building being completed at the end of 2021 or thereabouts.”
Mackellar said the eight-storey residential block of apartments at Ela Beach, Port Moresby, made up of 39 units, both two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments, would be completed in May.
“The apartment will be Port Moresby’s newest residential facility to come on the market,” he said.
“Tenancies are currently available but filling fast.
“Our capital plans will continue and more opportunities will be realised in the next couple of years.”
