Funds to be audited: Basil
THE K20 million Budget 2019 allocation for the 2020 national census will be audited, National Planning and Monitoring Minister Sam Basil says. Acting National Statistician John Igitoi said he was relieved as he had assumed office under many controversial circumstances, particularly on the use of the funds this year.

Implement policies
ADMINISTRATORS and political leaders nationwide should ensure development projects are carried out in their districts and provinces, Department of Implementation and Rural Development acting secretary Aihi Vaki says. Administration to rebuild SHP
THE Southern Highlands government will allocate K30 million from its internal revenue to rebuild the province after the February 2018 earthquake that caused massive destruction. THE National Youth Development Authority has reviewed a youth council guidebook that will be rolled out in Hela this year. The updated book will help guide locals in providing directions to youths on how to form groups and how to establish youth councils.

THE 63rd annual Goroka Show continues to attract corporate sponsorships from private companies, the latest being the Homestate Cooperation that donated 3,000kg of its Frangipani rice products. The presentation was made by the cooperation’s branch in Goroka on behalf of chairman Paiboon Tony Wetwattana to the show committee.

FORMER Eastern Highlands Governor Julie Soso hailed the 63rd National Gaming Control Board Goroka Show staged over the weekend at the National Sports Institute as a great success for families. “This is one of the best show I have ever watched which becomes like a family occasion, especially for children,” Soso said.
