Police recover vehicle
NATIONAL Capital District police said a vehicle stolen by armed criminals at Stop ‘N’ Shop Rainbow Estate on Aug 15 in Port Moresby, was abandoned near the 9-Mile clinic. The vehicle was recovered by Police Fox 203 at around 9pm that same day. A police officer involved in this operation said the car was stolen at around 7pm.

Brutality needs addressing
POLICE Minister Bryan Kramer says police brutality needs to be addressed, and more training needs to be provided to officers to learn how to de-escalate potentially violent situations. “Strict policies and penalties against the use of force, and effective command and control is needed to help prevent police violence,” Kramer said.

People urged to do tests
MOROBE Health Authority public health director Micah Yawing has urged people experiencing influenza-like illnesses to get a Covid-19 test. He said testing areas were located at Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium, Milfordhaven Urban Clinic, Buimo Urban Clinic, Lae International Hospital, GM Flores Hospital and Igam Barracks in Lae.

Counting to start in Sept
BOUGAINVILLE Electoral Commissioner George Manu says that counting for the fourth Bougainville election will start on Sept 2 and it will be held at three main centres. Manu said the main counting centres would be in Buka (North Bougainville), Arawa (Central Bougainville) and Buin (South Bougainville). He said all constituency seats including women and ex-combatant seats would be in their respective regions.
