Take Covid-19 seriously
A NON-government organisation has urged Papua New Guineans to take the Covid-19 seriously as many people have started to disregard preventative measures at home and in public places. Papua New Guinea Red Cross Society executive officer Alu Vegoa said earlier in the year that the Covid-19 pandemic had caused people to follow health measures, but presently, adherence to the measures was not there.

EXECUTIVES of Hengambu in the Mumeng local level government in Bulolo, Morobe, were sworn-in recently by provincial legal officers. The Hengambu Landowner Association executives included John Nema (president), Paul Bana (vice-president), Gidisa Yesia (secretary) and Giamsa Monjo (treasurer).

MP’s case adjourned
NORTH Fly MP James Donald’s court case has been adjourned to next month for submissions on sufficiency of evidence after his police hand-up brief was served on him yesterday. Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Garry Unjo adjourned the case to allow Donald time to find a lawyer to file his submissions.

MP presents truck to church
Moresby North East has purchased a truck worth K180,000 for the Evangelical Lutheran church in Port Moresby. MP John Kaupa, while presenting the truck, acknowledged the role of churches and their contribution towards the spiritual and physical development of the country.

Polye slams govt’s idea
Former Kandep MP Don Polye has slammed the Government’s idea to put an end to the National Roads Authority (NRA) as it will affect road maintenance in the country. Polye, who was once the transport minister, said he established the authority to remove hidden motives on road maintenance situations.

Investors not interested: MP
POTENTIAL investors are being scared off from the country due to lack of confidence in the Government, Ialibu-Pangia MP Peter O’Neill says. Speaking at a recent press conference in Port Moresby, he said: “No one (investor) is interested when leadership has not shown them confidence.”

Opposition criticised
ENGA Governor Sir Peter Ipatas has slammed Opposition MPs for creating disunity among landowners over the Porgera gold mine. He said the special mining lease had been given to Kumul Minerals Holdings Ltd and all leaders should unite to work towards a shared vision for the country.

Court adjourns sex case
THE case of Nathaniel Tade, charged with sexual penetration of a child, has been adjourned to next month as files are yet to be completed. Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Garry Unjo said the matter was still within the three-month period allowed to prepare the case.
