Case deferred
A 24-YEAR-OLD woman appeared from custody at the Lae Committal Court on Wednesday charged with murdering her husband on Dec 18. Senior Magistrate Pious Tapil when questioning the police prosecution if the police summary of facts into the case was ready, the prosecutor said the arresting officer is yet to complete the files. Tapil adjourned the case to April 19 for mention to give police enough time to complete the hand up brief.

Case set for April 10
An attempt murder case against Penias Mel, 35, from Kuinga village, Mul-Baiyer, Western Highlands, was adjourned by the Lae committal court to April 10. Senior magistrate Pious Tapil, who presided over the case on Wednesday, adjourned the case because the police brief was not ready. Mel was remanded in custody at Buimo Prison.

Tide assessment
THE National Disaster Centre (NDC) has clarified that the assessment of king tides is conducted only in most affected areas in the country. NDC director Col Carl Wrakonei said they received reports from the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (Arob), East Sepik and Manus. The Arob team assessed themselves and the NDC visited Wewak and Manus.
