Teachers’ call
Teachers in East Sepik are calling for an investigation and prosecution of those involved in the mismanagement of their leave fares. East Sepik PNG Teachers’ Association branch president Andrew Kopta said they wanted that done and their outstanding payments made before they resumed normal teaching duty this year.

Jobs for youths
Madang Governor Peter Yama has urged the Government to use whatever funds available to it to give opportunities to unemployed youths dropping out of school. Yama said the reason why PNG has law and order problems is because there are too many young people without jobs.

MPs commended
Leader of Government Business and Finance Minister James Marape commended the Members of Parliament for their punctuality in the past two weeks of session. Marape, just before moving the motion for Parliament to rise on Friday, also thyanked Opposition Leader Patrick Pruaitch for being present throughout the session. “In the continual outburst of vote of no confidence and everything that’s running, we rise in Parliament at this point in time.”

Wonderful partners
ACTING correctional services commissioner Steven Pokanis says that its annual budget was used according to its strategic plan. “We have wonderful partners like churches, civil and non-governmental organisations, business houses and private sector who step in to assist with the up-skilling and development of our detainees and officers,” Pokanis said.
