TEACHERS have been told to do away with traditional methods of teaching and introduce new ideas for more effective results.

Director for curriculum and assessment development branch Steven Tandale said that during the opening of a two-day workshop to introduce stakeholders to a procedure of textbook revision yesterday.

Tandale said teachers needed find interesting methods to teach so that students were attracted to lessons and remain interested to learn.

He stressed the workshop was for them to look at the approach that stakeholders could align OutcomesBased Curriculum (OBE) with the System Based Curriculum (SBC). “Now with the new system that  will soon be used, we are looking at ways in which we could align what is already there to come up with a proper system curriculum and the workshop is helping us to do so, especially in terms of textbooks,” Tandale said.

Other representatives said it was vitally important to move away from traditional ways of teaching.
