Bring to light more saga

Letters

THANK you to The National and reporter Rebecca Kuku for the story on the health drug saga that has caused much frustration and debate over the years.
Such reports are rare in this country by media sources for some unknown reason and it is certainly a breath of fresh air.
I have just read the second part of the report on the views of Dr Yockopua from the National Doctors Association (NDA), Simon Bole from National Procurement Commission (NPC), Sir John Pundari and Gary Juffa from Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and our Prime Minister James Marape.
It is very healthy to bring a matter such as the drug shortages in the country out into the public domain so the people can have more information available to pass their own judgment.
It is plain to see that the performance of the Department of Health (DOH) has failed the country in this respect.
Year in and year out we continually hear, see and read on the shortages of drugs in clinics and hospitals in many parts of the country.
The blame game never stops by the key players in this saga.
Who is not to say that before the year ends or next year the same problem will surface again?
Your guess is as good as mine.
PNG is now 44 years old and growing in population and its budget is now in the double digits of billions of kina but corruption, greed and poor management is stifling the progress of the country.
Thank you once again reporter Rebecca Kuku and The National.
We need more such reporting.

Ivan, Gordons
