British American Tobacco invests in employees

ADJUSTING to the evolving market is a priority for British American Tobacco PNG and is being addressed through its investment in employees, an official says.
Head of Human Resources and Facilities Tim Solly said an example of this was the stint overseas by marketing development manager Christine Tamur for two years or more.
Tamur will be in Brisbane attached with the British American Tobacco Australia to develop her talent.
“One of the big parts of our talent strategy is to actually get people outside. So you will notice that BAT PNG has a number of employees from foreign countries in PNG,” he said.
“The reason we do that is to develop us so when we go back to our home markets, we can be a bigger better version than when we left.
“And we are trying very hard to do that for PNG talent with BAT by getting our PNG talent out into the world.
“Different markets do different things because of different capabilities and constraints that they face. But by doing things differently, you come back with a refreshed set of eyes and energy about yourself.
“Christine is one of the first people we have sent out in a long time and we plan to send three more in the next couple of months.
“This depends on the need of the person and the need for the organisation on sending people out to other BAT markets.”
Tamur said employment with BATA should be a smooth transition with the uniform operational standard of the multinational company.
