TUAHAVA Broncos got the better of Poreporena Marlins 16-4 in Round 5 of the Hiri Rugby League competition at Konedobu Oval in Port Moresby on Sunday.
After five games the Broncos from Roku Village – on the western end of Fairfax harbour – have four wins and one draw which sets them comfortably at the head of the 10-team competition.
The other challenge at the weekend between Hanuabada Tolly Ice and Kouderika Vipers ended in an 18-18 draw after both sides tried desperately to pick up the two competition points but to no avail.
In the other encounters Borenomu Flyers beat Buria Reds 16-14, Gorohu Titans edged Lealea Knights 12-10 and TI Stones knocked off Kido Lagavas 18-11.
The league will name a training squad for the Southern Zone trials in Port Moresby later this year.
