Brothers thump Gazelle to make playoffs

UNITED Brothers managed to snuck into the playoffs after thumping Gazelle 9-0 in the main A grade match of the Port Moresby Softball men’s competition on Sunday at Diamond One.
After a 1-1 draw with the Brown Eagles earlier in the day, the brethren needed a win to make the final-cut for the finals.
The Dick Bart Jr-led team won the game on mercy-rule at the bottom of the fourth innings.
Yokomo, who beat Defence 2-1, were declared the minor premiers.
Defence, United Brothers and Bears are all on the same points but separated on percentage with Bears missing out.
The top five are Yokomo, Brown Eagles, PNG Power, United Brothers and Defence.
In the B-grade, Brown Eagles picked up the minor premiership while other teams confirmed for the finals were United Brothers, Stringerz, PNG Power and Bears.
The finals of the Port Moresby men’s competition start this weekend.
