TWO top finishers in the Ox & Palm National Women Soccer League in each centre Port Moresby and Lae will play one-off semi-final to qualify for the grand final in Port Moresby on June 1.

National Soccer League development manager Chris Brown said the competition would only have one final because of funding constraints in having a Lae side play a Port Moresby in the semi-finals.

Brown said Port Moresby sides the Northern Crusaders will play Kavieng Hotel Yamaros in Port Moresby-leg semi-finals while Lae’s Poro and PNG Power play in the Lae-leg semi-finals. The winners will play the curtain raiser of the main Telikom National Soccer League men’s grand final.

Brown called on all soccer officials and players not to confuse the women players about the home-and-away semi-finals. There is no such thing in place, and NSL management will not be responsible for any false information.

The WNSL ladder: Port Moresby leg – Northern Crusaders 6, Yamaros 6, Mungkas 2; Lae leg – Poro 10, PNG Power 3, Bara 1.

Meanwhile the men’s semi-finals will see reigning premiers Hekari United play Gigira Laitepo Morobe FC at Sir John Guise stadium in Port Moresby while Besta PNG United FC host FC Port Moresby at their home ground at the PNGFA Academy at 11-Mile.
