BANK South Pacific donated bedding and curtains to the youths of City Mission, Koki, in Port Moresby, on Tuesday.
The donation included 40 mattresses, pillows, bed sheets, towels and curtains from BSP’s transaction and channel support (TCS) business unit staff and management through their community project initiative.
In a statement, BSP said prior to the presentation, the team hired a pest control company to have the dormitory sprayed and cleaned.
Items presented were through funds raised through a walkathon in August and a number of sausage sizzles during the year.
Head of transaction and channel support John Wakeham said giving was not just about making a donation.
“It is about making a difference in someone else’s life,” he said.
“We appreciate the role City Mission has contributed to PNG, especially in providing a home and training for destitute boys in the country.
“Therefore, we take great pride in supporting such organisations that provide and enhance the livelihood of our youths.
“Giving to City Mission is a testament that BSP remains an integral part of the communities it operates in.”
City Mission PNG marketing coordinator Stella Navuru acknowledged BSP’s support and said it would make a positive difference in the lives of those young men.
“This is a timely donation of providing these items to our boys as they have been sleeping without mattresses for some time now,” Navuru said.
“We are thankful to the staff and management of BSP TCS business unit for such an early Christmas gift that will go a very long way in supporting us. “
