BANK South Pacific (BSP) has appointed two Papua New Guineans, Daniel Faunt and Kili Tambua, to the group’s general manager positions effective on Dec 2.
Chief executive officer Robin Fleming said BSP prided itself on developing staff at all levels of the organisation and local talent in the countries it operated in.
Faunt, from Manus, had been appointed to be the group’s general manager retail, and would oversee BSP’s retail banking system while Tambua, from Southern Highlands, currently the deputy general manager retail sales and customer service, had been appointed to the role of general manager offshore branches and would oversee operations in Fiji, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Tonga, Samoa and Cook Islands.
“Daniel’s appointment further reflects BSP’s continued promotion of Papua New Guinean staff into the senior management roles across the BSP group,” Fleming said.
Faunt has over 20 years of banking experience in Papua New Guinea, Australia and the Pacific and holds a masters of business administration in economics from Deakin University and a bachelor of business in banking from the Queensland University of Technology.
He has held senior management roles in retail banking, corporate and commercial banking and operations prior to joining BSP.
Faunt joined BSP in November 2016 as senior manager Pacific business liaison working with the bank’s offshore branches and as general manager offshore branches since June 2018; he as the first general manager to take on the responsibility of banking operations in Fiji, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Tonga, Samoa and Cook Islands.
“He brings to BSP and the role a very broad and deep knowledge of the financial services sector, and will have direct responsibility for continuing BSP’s strong growth path in retail banking,” Fleming said.
