BSP receives award for being the best private sector employee

Bank South Pacific this week received the ‘2017 Best Private Sector Employer Award’ from the PNG Human Resource Institute (PNGHRI).
The award recognises the growing and significant role of the human resources profession in all kinds of organisations in business, industry, public service, non-profit and non-government organisations.
General manager human resources Hari Rabura thanked the institute for recognising BSP’s efforts in HR for five consecutive years.
“This could not have been made possible without the dedication and commitment of the BSP staff and its management team,” she said.
BSP, backed up by CEO, Robin Fleming, realises the importance of training and development.
The Graduate Development Programme (GDP) aims to recruit graduates and introduce them to the bank and finance industry, while at the same time mentoring and nurturing them as they mature in their career.
The Leadership Management Development Programme (LMDP) invests in creating pathways for growth and succession programme to develop Papua New Guinea staff.
The institute award has tough qualification rules, including leadership, strategic HR focus, continuous improvement in training and development, business results and corporate social responsibility.
“The award is testament to the level of commitment BSP has in developing our human resources,” Rabura said.
“We strive consistently to ensure that what we do is aligned to best human resource practices and industrial relations.
“Our people continue to be trained and skilled to be capable of managing new systems in PNG and for all the countries we operate (Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands, Vanuatu and recently in Cambodia in the South East Asian Region).”
